Coastal Drive Course
National Route 7, a fabulous drive course.
It's a coastal road, but there are many forest roads, so it's a drive course with forests. The roadside has thick forests of big cone pines and acacias. Your heart flutters when you get glimpses of the ocean view.
The road from Ganggu to Sunrise Park. National Route 7 leads me to Route 20, 26km of coastal road. If you don't have to rush to Uljin or Gangwon-do, no one would hesitate to choose Route 20. It's the road to Sunrise Park. The road was chosen as a beautiful road of Korea and also as a nice road for a drive. You have to open the window and enjoy the sea breeze.

The road outside Sunrise Park has unique street lamps. When the sun sets, the LED lights shine on the road. Artificial lights become a beautiful device to make nature look better. The first place you arrive is a fishing village with lodging houses and beaches. I pass Daetan, the smallest village and beach in Yeongdeok, and also see Obo Beach.

Smell the ocean and continue along the coastal road. You never get tired of the narrow road where the wind and forest coexist. A different wind from the Pacific blows every time. Each breath is a pleasant one. Follow a remote curvy road down and there is a seawater pool. It isn't artificial, it was naturally formed. It is the beautiful fishing village of Seok-ri.

You can smell the ocean along the road from Gyeongjeong-1-ri to Gyeongjeong-2-ri. The fishy smell of nets and the scent of marine plants are in the air. It is the true scent of the ocean. The sea breeze seems to purify your heart. The scenery of the fishing village lasts on.

It is a coastal road, but there are many forest roads, so it is a drive course with forests. Thick forests of pines, big cone pines and acacias are on each side of the road. Your heart flutters when you get glimpses of the ocean view. Slight peaks of the ocean seem to be just as good as a full open view. The ocean is definitely beyond, but it's covered by the big cone pines. The wind carries you along the road from Sunrise Park to Chuksan. It is a road of wind. I stop the car a moment. There are so many spots I want to stop. I started this road from Snow Crab Village. It has such a charming view of the coast. You can't just pass it without stopping. Standing on the rocks by the shore, I feel in harmony with nature. I am part of the fishing village scenery. Women are picking agar. I sit and watch in a daze.

I continue along the Gangchuk route. I feel the humidity of the ocean. I enjoy the smell of the ocean. I feel my mind clearing up. It's a feeling only people who drove this course know. No words could explain it. It is fantastic.

I go in search of the scenery of Chuksanhang Port and Mt. Jukdosan. It is a pretty road with flowers. There are pretty Jerusalem artichokes. The yellow flowers go well with the yellow signs of Blueroad. I feel like I'm entering a road of hope. I cross Gyeongjeonggyo Bridge and Chuksanhang Port spreads ahead of me. This is one of the best fishing villages in Yeongdeok. You should make time to stop and go up Mt. Jukdosan. The Jukdosan breakwater is the end of the Gangchuk route.

The curvy coastal road from Ganggu to Chuksan. It is a road of fishing villages and pretty pensions along the coast. Sometimes, it's filled with the smell of the ocean and sometimes, it's covered in fog. If you're in the East Coast, be sure to drive along the coastal drive course.
