East Coast Moonlight Hike
The full moon over the East Sea, it's a moonlight hike filled with memories
The full moon rises in the sky. I wish I could hold it in my arms. From the mountain ridge, the mountains, ocean and moon are in harmony. It is a sight I want to store in my mind and hold forever.
It is a pleasant walk at night only relying on the moonlight and being guided by nature. The East Coast Moonlight Hike is held ten times a year on weekends with a full moon. Greet the moon, embrace it and talk to it on this path that is nice to walk. Feel the moon deep in your heart. The 2-hour moonlight course is full of performances and events that make what could be a boring walk very pleasant. It's like walking a new path in life. Let the setting sun go and greet the new moon that is full of hope.

The Yeongdeok Elementary School Changpo Branch. It is the place to meet, wait, exercise and appease your hunger before the hike.

The hike begins. It's a narrow, but well paved road. There are safety officers here and there, so there's no need for worries. As I run out of breath, I head for the ridge. My clothes are wet from sweat. When you see the auto camping ground in the distance to the right, the full moon rises in the sky. I wish I could old it in my arms. From the ridge, I see the mountains, ocean and moon are in harmony. Walking with a view of the colorful capsule houses, it's like I traveled back in time. When I climb the hilly path, I catch my breath and appreciate the surrounding scenery. The sound of the generators is scary in the dark and unfamiliar, but you get used to it and it becomes kind of affectionate after a while. Past the camping ground and Byeolbansan Beacon Mound, I head to the central area of the Wind Power Generation Complex. Across from the beacon mound is an outdoor performance area. Hurray!

The first performance. The melody from the folk guitar extends to the sky and ocean. I sit for some rest and the moon is really close. I want to recite a poem. I suddenly become a poet at the top of a mountain and praise the night.

Over the ridge is the New and Renewable Energy Center. It is open until late for the night time hikers. Toward the entrance of the complex, there is another performance by the Gosan Yun Seondo Poem Monument. I listen to the concert prepared by local singers. There is freedom from the moon. The night fills my heart. I thought it would just be a walk in moonlight, but there are things to see as you walk. It is a leisurely and pleasant hike that arouses all sorts of sentiments.

It's time to head back down. The smell of the East Sea is in the air. The moon is shining over the ocean. It dances on the ocean in various forms. The climax of the moonlight hike is Sunrise Park. All I did was follow the moon, but the Path of Light shines with LED lights. This is a paradise of lights.

Standing below Changpo Lighthouse, my heart dances with excitement. It's time to finish up the hike. At the lighters wharf, they never let guests go without gaining something. This time, it's a cultural performance. An opera choir performs and you can taste local specialty products. I drink some makgeolli to quench my thirst and rest my legs. I turn around and see the full moon has followed me to the East Sea. It looks down on me with a smile and tells me I did a good job.
