1. Let's start with a maritime history tour
Jangsa Beach / Namjeong-myeon
Jangsa Beach is located where National Route 7 and the coast meet. It is the place where loyal troops of students arrived during the Korean War and died while fighting North Korean soldiers. There is a memorial to pay tribute to their lofty spirits of patriotism.

Gyeongbo Fossil Museum / Namjeong-myeon
The Gyeongbo Fossil Museum is the only museum in Yeongdeok and has a record of the greatest history.

Samsa Marine Park and Fishing Village Folk Museum / Samsa
The desire for unification can be seen in the monument for people who are homesick because their hometown is in North Korea and the Monument for the Men of National Merit. Take a look at Haeyuga Monument, a travelogue written by Kim Hanhong, then head over to the Fishing Village Folk Museum where you can see the lives of Yeongdeok people.

Daesosan Beacon Mound / Dogok-ri, Chuksan-myeon
Daesosan Beacon Mound was an important means of communication in the Joseon Period. It has historic value because the remains are clear.

Goesi-ri Traditional Village / Goesi-ri, Yeonghae-eup
This village embraces Mangilbong Peak and overlooks the Yeonghae Plain. It is the home of great writer and loyal servant of Goryeo, Mokeun Lee Saek. It is the village of the Yeongyang Nam clan. The thirty or so houses reflect the times of the past.

Daejin Beach ? Byeoksan Dohaedan Monument / Daejin-ri, Yeonghae-myeon
In one corner of Daejin-1-ri near Daejin Beach, you can see Byeoksan Dohaedan Monument. In 1895 after Queen Myeongseong was murdered, Byeoksan used private funds to raise loyal troops. But after Japan's annexation of Korea, he threw himself in the ocean.
2. Now for an inland history tour
Wind Power Generation Complex Shin Deukcheong Monument (people and history of Goryeo) / Changpo-ri, Yeongdeok-eup
Shin Deukcheong was born in Illyang-ri, Changsu-myeon, during King Chungsuk's reign and was the lord of Pyeongsan Prefecture. He wrote "Yeokdaejeolliga" to admonish the politics of King Gongmin. "Yeokdaejeolliga" is considered to be the first poem of lyrical literature and is praised along with Shin Deukcheong's patriotism.

General Shin Dolseok Historic Site / Dogok-ri, Chuksan-myeon
A loyal troops leader from the common class who saved the country from a crisis during the early days of the Korean Empire, Shin Dolseok. Let's meet the greatest person from Yeongdeok. Shin Dolseok united 100 loyalty soldiers in Yeonghae, his hometown and fought the Japanese. He deplored the reality of his country that was hanging by threads. He was a young leader who organized loyal troops and fought Japanese oppression.

3.1 Uprising Tower / Yeonghae-eup
Every year on March 1, there is an independence march from Yeonghae Rotary to the memorial and a tribute ceremony. On February 29, as eve events, there is a reenactment of General Shin Dolseok's loyal troops going off to war, torch lighting and march.

Illyang-ri Traditional Village / Illyang-ri, Changsu-myeon
When you leave Jangyuksa Temple, there is a path heading to Illyang-ri, Changsu-myeon. It is called 'little Andong' for considering etiquette and customs to be important.

Buddhist Priest Naong Bansong Historic Site / Singi-ri, Changsu-myeon
From Yeonghae intersection, follow Route 918 toward Changsu and Yeongyang for about 5.6km and Singi-ri three-way appears. The Buddhist Priest Naong Bansong Historic Site is here. It is famous for Buddhist priest Naong planting a pine tree before entering Buddhism.

Jangyuksa Temple / Galcheon-ri, Changsu-myeon
From the Buddhist Priest Naong Bansong Historic Site at Singi-ri three-way, head right on Route 920 which leads to Ochon-ri. Drive along the road with mountains on both sides for quite a while and Jangyuksa Temple stands at Mt. Unseosan. It was built by Buddhist priest Naong in 1355.

Yugeumsa Temple / Geumgok-ri, Byeonggok-myeon
The road to Mt. Chilbosan is a continuation of ups and downs. After a while, a cozy temple that was built in the Silla Period appears. The temple burned down and most of it was restored. Only the 3-story pagoda is original, but there isn't anything artificial about the temple.
