Gangguhang Port Snow Crab Row
Be inebriated by the scent of the ocean and the flavor of snow crabs With sights to see within a 10-minute distance, you have to eat before you can do any sightseeing. Snow Crab Row draws in tourists day and night. It is the core of tourism in Yeongdeok. It is the Gangguhang Port Snow Crab Row.
Yeongdeok is the home of snow crabs. The most snow crabs are caught here. They are even sold overseas. The auction site has a global capacity. Gangguhang Port is a representative port of Yeongdeok. Samsa Marine Park, Sunrise Park and other sights to see are within a 10-minute distance. Just with snow crabs, Ganggu is the core of tourism in Yeongdeok. There are different types, but the best snow crabs in Korea are from Yeongdeok.
The snow crabs have straight legs like bamboo. Some have legs that are 30-40cm long. Everyone falls in love with the meaty legs. The ones caught at Ganggu and Chuksan in March and April taste the best. Ganggu is where all the snow crabs caught from November through May end up. You can buy cuttlefish and brown seaweed at an inexpensive cost, too. Various fishing village experiences are also available near the port.
Every year when the spring breeze blows, Gangguhang Port becomes a site for the snow crab festival, but they don't just have snow crabs. It was some time ago, but the port was the film site for the drama, "You and Me". The road from Gangguhang Port to Chuksanhang Port is praised as the east coast's best coastal drive. It is the starting point of the recently rising trekking course, Blueroad, a road to walk with the wind, sun and ocean. Ganggu is becoming another name for Yeongdeok.
[Origin] The home of Yeongdeok snow crabs and a paradise of seagulls, the story of Ganggu
Yeongdeok-eup is inland, so the home of snow crabs was originally Gangguhang Port. They should be called Ganggu snow crabs instead of Yeongdeok snow crabs. But long ago, Gangguhang Port was a small port that wasn't that well known. Yeongdeok-eup was better known since it was a large village. That's why they called the snow crabs Yeongdeok snow crabs. The port might have been small, but it was a very active port full of energy.
A place with tension and energy. A white lighthouse, red markers and waves like the teeth of whales. It's beautiful to see that all this is alive. There are thousands of seagulls at the wharf. The reason is pretty interesting. If seagulls are here, it means there is good food. A lot of pollack is caught at Gangguhang Port. Fishermen gutted the pollack on the breakwater to start drying them right away. There were always a lot of pollack intestines on the breakwater. There is no way seagulls would give up a feast like that. There is a fun story that the people of Ganggu are wakened by the cries of seagulls and they can't go to sleep until the seagulls quiet down.
