Summary

Yugeumsa Temple, built by the monk, Jajang, in the sixth year of Queen Seondeok(673), had been a considerable size of temple till the mid of Joseon Dynasty.

According to the anecdote, the landslide with heavy rainfalls destroyed the temple after the chief of the temple saw two dragons having sexual intercourse on the way from Bulguksa Temple.
Back to the temple, the chief felt uneasy about the unusual scene and before he arrived at the temple, the landslide ruined the temple.

Since the reconstruction in the fifth year of King Injo, the temple has preserved its appearance so far. It is usual for a pagoda to stand in front of the main prayer hall but this in particular stands at the back yard.
It doesn't seem to have moved from somewhere and is assumed to have put the main prayer hall behind itself.

As the general stone pagoda, this pagoda consists of two-story platform and three-story main part.
The bottom and the top platforms have the corner pillars engraved at the corners and the sides and place two-layer strut to hold the next layer.
Assembled into one piece, the roof stone and the core stone compose the main part of the pagoda.
Every story has the corner-pillar at the corner without any particular decoration.
A four-layer strut holds the roof stone.

In the final of the pagoda, round stones piled in an order later do not match with the rest. The pagoda goes narrow as it goes up with an appropriate rate and the big platform helps the pagoda to have stability.
The pillar decoration on every forth layer of the platform and the four-layer strut for the roof stone prove that the pagoda was built at the late of Silla era.
