Samsa Marine Park and Fishing Village Folk Museum
A fondness for the ocean - Samsa walking trail. A pleasant walk to enjoy the ocean without jumping into it.
Samsa-ri, National Route 7. Head north from the south and you'll see a sign for the Samsa walking trail. The 2-3 entrances to the trail seem to wink at you. It is a feeling of fondness for the ocean. It's like the thrill of sensing the sweet flavor in your mouth right before you eat white chocolate. The walk is as comfortable as sitting on a boat with a transparent floor and viewing underwater. The lighthouse, beach parasols and snack bar create an exotic atmosphere. I follow the observation deck and walk the trail. It is a pleasant walk to enjoy the ocean with your entire body without jumping into it. It is the Samsa walking trail.

The echo of Samsa sings about the blue ocean - Samsa Marine Park It has the aura of an open square. The marine park embraces the spirit of the blue East Sea. Everything is as wide as the ocean. It opens up your heart. There is an acacia scent at the observatory. Samsa Marine Park is equipped with everything you would need to enjoy a great view.

The first gateway to Yeongdeok. When you pass the entrance that is like the gate of a university, the first thing you see is the monument for people who are homesick because their hometown is in North Korea. It is a spot to calm your excitement and prepared yourself to appreciate the east coast. 「Established in 1995 for Gyeongbuk residents with hometowns in North Korea. The monument is for mental support and is a symbol of the homes they miss. It is a place to remember their homes and families they were separated from.」 I take a sincere moment as I read the writing that holds a wish for unification. I also take a look at another small monument behind, the Monument for the Men of National Merit (May 8, 1998), then I head to the square of Samsa Marine Park. The name Samsa comes from Samsa-ri. It originates from the village being called Samsirangchon in the Silla Period because there was a family with three people who held the position of sirang.

No matter where you park, to the right is the East Sea and to the left are convenience facilities like restaurants, convenience stores, lodgings and entertainment facilities. The East Sea Observatory is full of acacia scent. Samsa Marine Park is equipped with everything you need to enjoy a great view. All this is possible because it has a big and wide area. To the right is the large performance area that faces the East Sea. They have regular performances of the Yeonghae Byeolsingut. There are also constant street performances. The pavilions surrounding the walking yard look nice with the trees in the forest. They make you want to write a poem. With circles for unity and the three colors of green, blue and red, the Samsa Marine Tower soars up with the energy of the East Sea. Another monument comes into sight, Hasan Kim Hanhong's (1877 - 1943) Haeyuga Monument.

After appreciating "Haeyuga", I look upward. There are sculptures like hwamunseok sedge mats, the Gyeongbukdaejong Bell and artificial waterfall. This place is one of the film sites for the drama, "You and Me", but only a large restaurant remains at the top of the hill now. The only fault of Samsa Marine Park is that despite its large size, the theme is uncertain. Even at a glance, it seems like an awkward combination of a neighborhood park and a tourist complex.

Do you remember those times? - Yeongdeok Fishing Village Folk Museum Children become fish swimming in the ocean. With the touch of a screen, you can gain information about the underwater world of the ocean. I'm surprised by the many types of snow crabs and surprised at how precious Yeongdeok snow crabs are and head for Ganggu.

The remaining energy, love and knowledge dispersed around the park are sublimated at the Fishing Village Folk Museum where Kini and Tori greet you. When you enter, you enter the 3rd floor where the deck of the boat is. With a feeling of boarding a ship, I go down to the 2nd floor. I'm only surprised with two things, but I'm so surprised that I need to calm down. The first is the huge amount of information about Yeongdeok and the ocean. The second is how much it's like the real ocean. With a view of the East Sea and all the information on the ocean, there is no time for your eyes or your heart to rest. You should prepare yourself with a deep breath.

Getting close step 1 「Knowing Yeongdeok properly」
The entire 2nd floor has a theme of 'beauty of Yeongdeok'. It shows everything about the life of a Yeongdeok resident. The food, clothing, houses, pastimes, culture, fishing village activities, festivals (Byeolsingut), baemui (shipbuilding process), etc. Three fishing boats are the first to greet me. Visit each section and don't forget to 'make your own fishing boat'. Confucian culture and fishing village culture combined to create a unique culture. Yeongdeok has many unique cultural heritages. The path to the 1st floor is like a gallery with a display of Yeongdeok history. To the left, Gangguhang Port is a main theme that fills one corner of the exhibit.

Getting close step 2 「Feeling Yeongdeok with your entire body」
The 1st floor has a theme of 'Yeongdeok, embracing fishing villages'. It has sections on ports, geography, types of fish and life of snow crabs. There is something you have to do if children are with you. It is the 'ocean navigation simulation' and 'snow crab catching simulation'. The 1st floor is perfect for various experiences. The 'snow crab catching simulation' is a game to catch snow crabs that are floating around. You can only see this at the Fishing Village Folk Museum. If you mastered the 1st floor, you might want to watch a 3D movie. After enjoying an exciting underwater adventure, I look around the fish fossil exhibit to end my tour of the 1st floor.

Getting close step 3 「Jump into Yeongdeok (the ocean)」
The basement floor. You can relieve all the fatigue through the East Sea that spreads outside the window.
