The body feels green
Meet the grand nature of Yeongdeok!
The forest and valley water spread below the mountain cliff. Children established a border with stepping stones. Rainbow Forest has trees surrounded by pebbles. It has a refreshing forest scent in spring and fall and attracts many campers in summer.
Osipcheon River Drive Course
The way to the grand nature of Yeongdeok. The 16km section to Okgye Valley is a cozy road that shows the essence of the mountains and water of Yeongdeok. From spring to fall, pretty flowers like zinnias, Jerusalem artichokes and tiger lilies by the roadside make it a pleasant drive. Follow the water and oddly-shaped rocks along the valley toward Okgye.
Rainbow Forest
To the left is Daeseocheon Stream, a branch of Osipcheon River. 'Dalsan fishing ground' is popular among campers and people who enjoy fishing. Pass the peach, pear and apple orchards and cross Heunggigyo Bridge. Rainbow Forest appears to the right. Trees like Japanese sumacs, baby briers and acacias are surrounded with pebbles. The forest has a refreshing scent in spring and fall and attracts many campers in the summer time. Even the name is pretty. It is Rainbow Forest.
Okgye Valley Pleasure Ground
Okgye Valley Pleasure Ground has a great ecology. You can feel your body turn green. Except for a restaurant, store and bathrooms, everything is nature. The 37 sights of Okgye. Just seeing them overwhelms you. Number nature seems to be putting it to shame. You just want to sit on a rock and recite a poem.
Chimsujeong Pavilion
The name comes from 'chimryususeok' in Jinshub Sunchuzhuan, a Chinese history book. 'Chim' means pillow and 'su' means gargling. If you sit here, you can get a panoramic view of the 37 sights of Okgye.
Okgye Village, Mt. Palgaksan
Past Okgye 1-gyo and Okgye 2-gyo bridges, the landmark rock of Okgye Village appears. There are lodging homes here and there. You can also see Palgak Cabin and the Forestry Culture Center. There are many hiking routes at Mt. Palgaksan, but the Palgak Cabin route is most convenient because of parking and the route is the same going up and coming down.
Mt. Chilbosan
If you're exhausted from enjoying the sights of Okgye, relieve it at the forest the next day. A hike up Mt. Chilbosan awaits. You can feel your body absorbing all the phytoncides. It is always exciting to anticipate meeting the greatest nature of Yeongdeok.
