Bicycle Tour

Master Yeongdeok with a bicycle tour along Route 7.

A bicycle trip is romantic. A national or global tour on a bicycle can be a lifetime dream. On a bicycle trip, you can enjoy nature up close along with all the seasonal changes. It is a romantic trip that leads to wherever the wheels take you.

"We do a bicycle tour about three times a week. It's good for your health. People who have ridden this path know how nice it is. They fall for the charm of the route and the charm of bicycle riding." (MTB club) The 50km road from Ganggu to Byeonggok. From Pohang to Gangguhang Port, take National Route 7. Then take Route 20 to Daejin Beach. The road is a course to enjoy the fabulous coastal scenery. You don't mind uphills since it's a coastal road. You can arrive in Byeonggok in about an hour and a half.

To get this far, there is quite a bit of traffic along National Route 7. Fortunately, there is a shoulder road. Still, you should be careful because the cars pass at a fast speed. The Gugyehang Port area is deep and has an abundance of fish. It is a popular fishing ground all year round. There are large big cone pines on the hill by the ocean and a lighthouse seems to guard the East Sea. You can really enjoy the charm of Yeongdeok by seeing the scenery of Mt. Palgaksan and Okgye Valley and going to the Gyeongbo Fossil Museum and Bugyeong Hot Spring.

"The sound of the wind, waves and gulls is really nice. You fall in love. I recommend it highly in summer. There are many nice places inland, but those roads are better in spring and fall because of bugs."

Yeongdeok is famous for snow crabs, but there are many hidden sights and tourist spots. You can enjoy various marine experiences and the abundance of food.

From the Fishing Village Folk Museum, ride down a steep downhill along the ocean. Pass Opo Beach and cross the bridge to Gangguhang Port with snow crab restaurants. The highlight of the bicycle tour begins. The coastal road from here to Geumjinhang Port faces the ocean. It's never behind you. You arrive at Changpo Village with a 200-year-old Chinese Juniper and bamboo forest.

"From Sunrise Park to Changpo Village, it's the greatest feeling. There's no need for words."

The inlets of the East Coast are treasures. Nomul-ri is a typical fishing village port. I enjoy the shine of the ocean and pass Nomul-ri. Go a little more and it's the Seok-ri Fishing Village. Brown seaweed and laver grown on rocks are are popular here and so is the seawater pool.

Past the Gyeongjeong-2-ri fishing village on Route 20, when you enter Chuksanhang Port, you can ride along an ordinary road. Chuksanhang Port is one of the top two ports in Yeongdeok-gun. You ride up and down along a cozy area. You are at a loss for words when you see the fabulous scenery ahead of you.

The MTB club is in Chuksan and Yeongdeok. There are set days for riding.

The coastal road with fabulous scenery is over 30km from Gangguhang Port to Goraebul Beach. Goraebul Beach has the longest beach in the East Coast. The wonderful view of the pine forest adds to the sentiments of the East Coast. It is like a painting with seagulls paddling in the ocean. It's never the same. When the seasons change, nature adapts to the changes with a new look. It's a bicycle tour to see all the changes up close. It's a romantic trip that leads you wherever your wheels take you.
