Summary

The name of Gyeongjeong-ri was came from a long sandy place and it was also called Baetbul or Gyeongjeong.
Suguneomi village of Gyeongjeong-2-ri was named "Chayu" by Yeonghae-busa who inspect the village because he thought the shape of "Suguneomi" look like an oxcart.
"Chayu" means cart(Cha) and cross(Yu) and the formation story of the town is unknown.
It was Southern territory of Yeonghae in Joseon period, and became a part of Yeonghae-gun on May 26th in 1895(after the Gabo Reform ).
Omae-dong, Chayu-dong and some area was annexed as as Gyeongjeong-dong by Japan on March 1st in 1914.
Gyeongjeong-dong has became Gyeongjeong-ri on May 1st in 1988 and devided as three part(1,2,3- ri)
